It's not quite as dark as the outline of the
Doma, below, but it is getting dark.
Here's the theater, by evening twilight. It
reminded me of an old, ornate Broadway theater. The tickets were an incredible
bargain, less than two dollars for us all. But for folks making $40 or $80 a
month, it's still quite a bit of change. So it was no surprise that everyone
turned out in their best dress. All except me, that is. I came in a black
turtleneck, blue jeans, waterproof Timberland boots, and my favorite beat-up
leather jacket. Oh well, at least I didn't commit a total faux pas --
the boots were clean!
Right, a panorama of the theater. Like
everything else in Riga, my mother remembered it a lot bigger and more opulent
the last time she was here. Of course, that was a while ago.
