Jau saule riet aiz tumšās mežu miglas
Sarkst padebeši vakars kalnā zvan'
No bērnības no tālām senām dienām
Man atmiņā vēl klusa dziesma skan

Tā dzimtenē aiz zilās mežu miglas
Reiz māte dziedāja kad biju mazs
Skrien gadi prom kā bezdelīgas žiglās
Nes visu līdz, tik atstāj atmiņas

Ai Bērnība, ai māmuliņa mana
Jūs projam sen, vairs atsaukt nespēju

Already the sun sets beyond the dark forest fog
The clouds turn crimson night tolls upon the hill
