Bārta
Bārta is the name of both a town and the larger parish. The parish was consolidated from multiple parishes dating to the Bārta (Oberbartau) and Krūte (Kruhten) baronial manors, parts of the Kalna and Spāre (Spahrenhof) baronial manors, and Krūtes pastoral manor. Bārta parish encompassed 113.2 km² (43.7 mi²) in 1935. The parish was reorganized a number of times during the Soviet era/occupation and following the restoration of independence.
Burial mounds in the Bārta area date to the Bronze Age↗.
