Renda parish (pagasts) spans the Abava river in the northern part of the Kuldīga district in the Courland lowland, bounded by Kabile, Rumba, Usma, Ģibuļi and Abava parishes. Numerous changes have been made to the parish boundaries as compared to prior to WWII.

It is criss-crossed by numerous rivers including waterfalls, creeks, and lakes — both natural and man-made, and swamps. The parish was assembled from nine German baronial (pre-land reform) manors (Latvian names shown in the possessive case):

  • Graudupes manor (Grauduppen),
  • Jaunās manor (Neuhof),
  • Kroņrendas manor (Rönnen),
  • Lielrendas manor (Gross-Rönnen, also Bricken Rönnen),
  • Mazrendas manor (Klein Rönnen),
  • Priežu manor (Dannerhof),
  • Ozolu manor (also Vecozolu; Ohseln),
  • Rendas mācītāja [Renda's pastor's] manor (Pastorat Rönnen),
  • Rendas forest-manor (Forstei Rönnen).

Renda folk costume

Our research turned up very little information specifically about the Renda folk costume. Descriptions are mostly combined with other parishes of the KuldĪga district and town of Kuldīga proper.
