Jelgava—center of power of the Duchy of Courland
The site of Jelgava's palace was home to a "palace"—of course not as grandiose or large as the one left behind by the Duchy of Courland—as far back as the 16th century. This short day trip was a pleasant change from some of our longer outings. At the height of summer, when it's daylight until midnight, "day" trip is more a figure of speech than a descriptive term.
