Our best guess is that this notebook first belonged to Kārlis Ģinters, then passed on to Pāvils Ratnieks. Kārlis Ģinters is listed on the memorial wall of fallen Latvian Legion soldiers in Lestene, Kurzeme.

The notebook is a collection of Latvian Legion songs recorded over time. These songs were well known after the war—one our website readers, Indulis, told of singing these in high school in the Displaced Persons camps in Germany.
